CliniSpecs Technology

EtherLens™ Optical Technology

A clinical lens system designed to support clear vision, professional comfort, and occupational eye protection in healthcare, dental, laboratory, and clinical environments.

Optical Technology

Built around visual clarity

EtherLens™ is the optical technology platform at the centre of CliniSpecs clinical safety eyewear. It is built on optical-grade polycarbonate, selected and processed to support clear, consistent vision during professional use in clinical, dental, laboratory, and healthcare environments.

The platform is designed to minimise visual interference during routine clinical work. Lens geometry, material selection, and manufacturing tolerances are maintained to support optical consistency across the product range. Protective performance depends on correct product selection, fit, use, and maintenance in accordance with applicable product documentation.

Intended Use

Designed for clinical work

CliniSpecs eyewear is intended for healthcare, dental, laboratory, and clinical workplaces where occupational eye protection may be required based on a workplace or site-specific risk assessment. Suitability for specific tasks and environments should be determined by the relevant person in control of the workplace, in accordance with applicable occupational health and safety requirements.

The product range is not designed for surgical, laser, radiological, ballistic, high-chemical-exposure, welding, or similar high-hazard applications. Selection should be based on an appropriate risk assessment and the applicable product documentation for each model.

Lens and Material System

Polycarbonate lens construction

CliniSpecs lenses are manufactured from optical-grade polycarbonate, a polymer material used in occupational safety eyewear for its combination of optical clarity and inherent impact resistance. Frame components are constructed from impact-resistant polymer, selected for durability and dimensional stability during routine clinical use.

Lens clarity supports accurate visual perception during clinical tasks. Lenses are clear category, without tint, and are intended for indoor clinical environments. The lens surface is compatible with professional cleaning practices when cleaned in accordance with care guidance. Aggressive solvents, abrasive materials, and chemical disinfectants outside those specified in product documentation may damage lens surfaces and should not be used.

Correct cleaning is important for maintaining lens performance and longevity. Detailed guidance is available on the Care & Cleaning page.

Product Range

A clinical eyewear system, not a fashion frame

The CliniSpecs range is structured as a controlled clinical safety eyewear system. The range provides framed dual-lens and frameless single-piece configurations.

Square, Round, Rectangle, Cat-Eye, and Aviator are framed dual-lens occupational safety eyewear. Shield is frameless, single-piece occupational safety eyewear. All models share the EtherLens™ optical polycarbonate platform and are available with model-specific product documentation.

System Design Rationale

Designed for the way clinical teams work

Visual clarity supports clinical accuracy

Clinical environments require accurate visual perception for tasks including patient assessment, procedural work, and the handling of instruments and materials. Optical quality and lens consistency are central to EtherLens™ design decisions.

Comfort supports routine use

Protective eyewear is only effective when worn consistently. Frame weight, fit geometry, and material selection are considered to support comfortable wear throughout a full clinical session without adjustment fatigue.

Cleaning compatibility matters

Clinical eyewear is subject to regular cleaning and handling. Lens and frame materials are selected for compatibility with professional cleaning practices as specified in the product Instructions for Use and Care. Correct cleaning methods are important for maintaining lens performance.

Documentation supports institutional adoption

Procurement teams, infection control coordinators, and WHS advisors require formal product documentation for risk assessments, procurement approval, and compliance records. CliniSpecs provides model-specific documentation including Product Data Sheets, Declarations of Conformity, and Technical File Packs.

Traceability supports accountability

Each model carries unique product codes, markings, and traceability information documented in the Markings and Traceability Guide. This supports controlled procurement, stock management, and compliance verification at site level.

Product Documentation

Technical information by model

Product-specific documents are organised by model, including Product Data Sheets, Instructions for Use & Care, Markings & Traceability Guides, Declarations of Conformity, Risk & Limitations Statements, and Technical File Packs.
