How CliniSpecs collects, uses and protects your personal information, written in plain English and centred on the Australian Privacy Principles.

Introduction

CliniSpecs designs clinical safety eyewear for healthcare, dental and laboratory professionals. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it, whenever you visit clinispecs.com.au, buy from us, or otherwise get in touch.

We've written this policy to be genuinely readable. If anything here isn't clear, contact us. Our details are at the end of this page.

Who we are

CliniSpecs® (ABN 46 651 552 206) is responsible for the personal information collected through this website and our related services.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run CliniSpecs properly:

• Contact details: name, email, phone number, delivery and billing address.
• Order details: products purchased, order value, payment confirmation, and any notes you give us about delivery or fit.
• Account details: if you create an account, your login information and order history.
• Support conversations: anything you tell us when you contact our team, including procurement or compliance enquiries.
• Technical information: device, browser, and how you use our website, collected automatically.

We don't collect health information about you as a patient. CliniSpecs is a workplace safety product for clinicians, not a healthcare provider, and this policy doesn't extend to information about your patients.

How we collect it

Most of what we hold, you give us directly: placing an order, creating an account, filling in a form, or emailing our team. The rest is collected automatically as you use our website, or comes from the service providers who help us run our store (see "Shopify" and "Payment providers" below).

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

• process and deliver your order
• run your account
• respond to enquiries, warranty claims and returns
• meet our legal and accounting obligations
• improve our website and products
• send you marketing, where you've asked to hear from us

We don't use your information for anything beyond these purposes without telling you first.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies to function properly and to understand how it's used. Some are essential. The site won't work properly without them. Others help us see which pages are useful, so we can improve them.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking them may affect how well the site works.

Our store is built on Shopify, which sets some cookies of its own to power checkout and security. See Shopify's cookie policy for details.

Analytics

We use analytics tools to understand how people use our website: which pages are visited, how long for, and what leads to a purchase. This information is aggregated and doesn't identify you personally in the reports we see.

Marketing communications

We'll only send you marketing emails if you've opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. We'll still send you service emails about your orders or account.

International transfers

Our team, and the service providers we use (including Shopify and our payment processor), may store or process your information outside Australia. Where we transfer personal information out of the United Kingdom or Europe, we rely on an approved transfer mechanism, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, unless the destination country is recognised as providing an adequate level of protection.

Shopify

CliniSpecs is built on Shopify. Shopify processes personal information on our behalf to run our store, handle checkout, and prevent fraud. Shopify's own privacy practices are described in Shopify's Privacy Policy.

Payment providers

Payments are processed securely through Shopify Payments and any payment providers made available at checkout. We don't store your full card details. Your payment provider handles that directly, under its own security standards.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including encryption in transit and restricted access to customer data. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee perfect protection. We treat your information as carefully as we'd want our own treated.

Retention

We keep your information only as long as we need it: to fulfil your order, meet our legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain accurate business records. When we no longer need it, we delete or de-identify it.

Your rights under the Australian Privacy Principles

As an Australian business, we handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. You have the right to:

• Access: ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Correction: ask us to fix anything that's inaccurate or out of date.
• Deletion: ask us to delete information we no longer need to hold.

We'll respond within a reasonable time, and may need to verify your identity first. There's no charge for making a request.

Access requests

To see what we hold about you, contact us using the details below. We'll provide it in a clear, usable format, or explain if we're unable to for a specific reason permitted by law.

Correction requests

If something we hold about you is wrong, tell us and we'll correct it, or explain why we haven't, if we disagree.

Deletion requests

You can ask us to delete personal information we no longer need. We'll comply unless we're required to keep it, for example, for tax, warranty, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal information, contact us first. We'd like the chance to fix it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Notifiable data breaches

If a data breach occurs that's likely to cause serious harm, we'll notify affected individuals and the OAIC, in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act.

International users

If you're accessing CliniSpecs from outside Australia, this policy still applies to you, alongside any additional rights available under your local law. As we grow into new markets, we'll update this section to reflect local requirements.

Children

CliniSpecs is intended for healthcare professionals, not children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy as our business, or the law, changes. The version on this page is always current. We'll update the date at the top whenever it changes.
